Developed with hardship in mind, the Komatsu Rock-Hopper became the gold standard for efficient, reliable mining ships. The 600 mini series brought an answer for the lower end of the market, catering to individual or freelance prospectors, small companies, or mining operations in tight spaces, where the larger Komatsu Rock-Hopper Maxi and Ultra chassis cannot fit.
Probably one of the most successful ship designs in the galaxy, the Rock-Hopper and Rock-Hopper II were among the first ships to harvest the Asteroid belt on Sol. 588 versions later, it is still the best-selling mining ring across all ranges.
One of the biggest modifications in the model’s history came when human miners were replaced by mining drones. This allowed reducing quarters, staging areas, and life-support needs, thus effectively increasing cargo space and autonomy. Now, each Rock-Hopper comes equipped with a Drone Hangar Bay and is fully capable of not only servicing its fleet but manufacturing new drones as needed.
